Vista Color Corporation selected by U.S. Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency(MBDA) to receive the 2017 National Minority Manufacturing Firm of the Year Award
Detroit, Michigan – Mr. Henry Serrano, CEO of Vista Color, accepted the award for National Minority Manufacturing Firm of the Year during a Power Breakfast this morning at The Cobo Center. The award pays tribute to a minority-owned firm that has achieved significant success in employing new and innovative techniques that led to a significant increase in market share, job growth and customer satisfaction.
National Minority Enterprise Development (MED) week is October 22-28, 2017 when the Nation recognizes contributions of minority businesses to the U.S. Economy. The National MED Week Awards program is a longstanding tradition celebrating the outstanding achievements of minorities entrepreneurs as well as individuals that have demonstrated a commitment to advancing minority business enterprises. The MBDA will kick-off its observance of National MED Week and the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) Annual Convention, scheduled for October 22-25, 2017 in Detroit, Michigan.
National MED Week and the NMSDC Conference provide a unique forum to connect with successful business leaders, government officials and corporate executives. Today Monday October 23, 2017 MBDA recognized all the National MED Week award winners during the Power Breakfast In addition to more than 3,500 business, government and corporate leaders in attendance at the breakfast, the day included a dynamic business expo built for deal-making.
Founded in 1968 by Cuban immigrant Jesus Serrano Vista Color’s legacy is one of over 50 years and two generations in business. Vista Color designs and manufactures paperboard folding cartons for many diverse industries including pharmaceutical, food, beverage and private label. Vista Color® achieved 27% revenue growth from 2013 and continues to grow at a steady pace to present. The company made dedicated upgrades in their technology. Vista Color® purchased all new equipment. No machine at Vista Color® is older than 5 years. An investment was made purchasing and implementing Webcenter production management tools – the results included bringing the prepress process up to speed with the team allowing for easier artwork approval and management for customers. These investments allowed Vista Color® to enable accelerated speed-to-market at more competitive prices.
